Organic Fertilizer
The substance that contains the minerals necessary for the nutrition of the plants and regulates the physical and chemical structure of the soil, which allows the plants to be fed more easily from the soil, is called fertilizer. Manure that is made from animal waste, fossils and naturally is called organic fertilizer.
As a result of scientific researches, it has been determined that the excessive increase in the use of nitrogen fertilizers in agricultural areas causes an increase in nitrate and nitrite in the foods produced, and the risk of developing cancer increases in people who eat these foods. Just for this reason, the use of chemical fertilizers is prohibited in many European countries, especially in Italy, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Greece, Romania and Croatia.
Benefits of Using Organic Fertilizer
Organic fertilizers add resistance to the soil and plant thanks to the components in it. It increases the yield of products and organic farming. In the world, the fertilizer needs of the soils differ depending on the regional conditions and the crops planted in the past years. For this reason, before the fertilization process, “Soil analysis” was not deposited by taking samples from the soil, and then “Fertilizer analysis” should be made for the organic fertilizer to be used. If there is a missing fertilizer depending on the needs of the plant planned to be produced, only the missing part should be filled with package fertilizer.
The emergence of the effects of chemical fertilizers on human health day by day accelerates the return to organic methods in the use of fertilizers. Although chemical fertilizers instantly increase the productivity of the soil and plants, a rapid return to organic fertilization methods has begun due to their long-term effects on human health, loss of soil fertility and costs.
What are the Organic Fertilizer Types?
Organic fertilizers are used to provide plant nutrient needs in agricultural production. These fertilizers consist of organic-based agricultural wastes, which are formed as a result of various agricultural activities, and materials that are obtained by obtaining organic materials of natural origin without being modified to a large extent.
1-) Animal Fertilizers
It is a type of fertilizer obtained from the solid and liquid feces of barn and poultry mortars or a mixture of bedding material. In recent years, vermicomposting has also been included in this category.
2-) Green Fertilization
Green fertilization is the mixing of plants such as legumes and wheat, which have completed a certain period of their development and have plenty of green parts, either in the environment where they are grown or after they are grown in another environment, and mixed under the soil. If the green manure plant is selected from legumes, it will be added to the soil in addition to organic matter, as well as nitrogen fixed from the atmosphere. It is an organic method that can be preferred instead of chemical nitrogen fertilizer.
3-) Humic Acid
Humic acids are the last products formed as a result of the decomposition of organic matter. It is one of the suitable materials in terms of providing organic matter in the soil. Fertilizers originating from Leonardite, which also contain elements such as sulfur, iron and zinc, should be preferred.
